Sustainable Operation Certificates
Ajax Textile has received the Global Organic Textile Standard certification, which allows the company to offer GOTS-certified organic-cotton mattress fabric. Global Organic Textile Standard Certification (GOTS) is a stringent, voluntary international standard for the processing of organic, fiber-containing products and addresses post-harvest processing stages, such as spinning, knitting, weaving, dyeing and manufacturing.
Ajax Textile has committed to meet the Global Recycle Standard (GRS). Ajax Textile verifies the recycled content of our products (both finished and intermediate) and verifies the responsible social, environmental and chemical practices in our production. The GRS certifies Ajax Textile in having accurate content claims and good working conditions, and that harmful environmental and chemical impacts are minimized.
Usage of Environmentally-Friendly Materials & Chemicals
Ajax Textile is continuously working with local authorities before the introduction of new dyes and chemicals to predetermine any possible negative affects on their waste treatment systems. Unlike many other nations, Canada and Ontario in particular had long ago developed and implemented very stringent rules and regulations covering our industry that monitor and control the fabrics we are able to use.
We have invested in the developments in and the use of cruelty free and non-toxic dyes and chemicals Ajax Textile has become the leader in producing a sustainable and quality oriented fabric while global demand for renewable, green and environmentally friendly fabrics is growing.
Minimal Usage of Energy & Materials
We have been able to reduce our energy and material usage using several methods and processes. We have introduced paperless invoicing using electronic data interchange. Ajax Textile reclaims heat and other by-products of our processes in order to conserve energy, reduce emissions and reduce our carbon footprint. Unlike many other nations, Canada and Ontario in particular had long ago developed and implemented very stringent rules and regulations covering our industry that monitor and control the amount of both the energy and materials we use.
We also have a recycle program where recyclable materials are segregated and organized at our plant for pickup and reuse, thereby reducing landfill site usage. We are continuously upgrading our systems, equipment and procedures to improve efficiencies and conserve our non-renewable resources
Continuous Monitoring and Treatment of Emissions & Effluents
Ajax Textile has committed to the continuous monitoring and treatment of effluent to ensure it exceeds the highest standards of our municipal sanitary authority. The discharged water is treated for particulates, acidity and temperature. Unlike many other nations, Canada and Ontario in particular had long ago developed and implemented very stringent rules and regulations covering our industry that monitor and control both the emissions and effluents discharged from our facility.
Monitoring, testing and treatment of effluents and emissions are conducted on a continual basis and have been refined to the point where our actual discharge and emission levels far exceed both federal and provincial standards.
Development in our Supply Chain’s Sustainability
We are continuously working with major suppliers to develop environmentally friendlier production techniques and products. We have had a long-term vision of establishing treatment systems and policies not just for our facility but for our entire supply chain. For over 60+ years we have been working with major suppliers to develop environmentally friendlier production techniques and products. These policies, techniques and products are continually upgraded.
