Sustainability & ETHICS
Ajax Textile has long been eco-conscious and sensitive to the concerns directly affecting our industry both domestically and globally. Being a strong environmental supporter, the company has kept environmental concerns in the forefront since the 1960’s, long before they became mandated. As a result, our philosophy is a proactive approach in dealing with environmental issues and concerns. The high sustainability standards that are associated with being a Canadian dye house have resulted in us exceeding sustainability mandates and expectations.
Over the last 60+ years, we have incorporated and implemented a number of policies and procedures that have helped us improve the sustainability of our operations, including:
- Usage of Environmentally-Friendly Materials & Chemicals
- Minimal Usage of Energy & Materials
- Continuous Monitoring and Treatment of Emissions & Effluents
- Development in our Supply Chain’s Sustainability
- Sustainable Operation Certificates
Sustainable Operation Certificates
Ajax Textile has received the Global Organic Textile Standard certification, which allows the company to offer GOTS-certified organic-cotton fabric. Global Organic Textile Standard Certification (GOTS) is a stringent, voluntary international standard for the processing of organic, fiber-containing products and addresses post-harvest processing stages, such as spinning, knitting, weaving, dyeing and manufacturing.
Ajax Textile has committed to meet the Global Recycle Standard (GRS). Ajax Textile verifies the recycled content of our products (both finished and intermediate) and verifies the responsible social, environmental and chemical practices in our production. The GRS certifies Ajax Textile in having accurate content claims and good working conditions, and that harmful environmental and chemical impacts are minimized.
Supply Chain Ethics & Human Rights Transparency
Ajax Textile places an emphasis on knowing its supply chain, regardless of where the downstream products are produced, to help avoid working with organizations that violate human rights. Ajax Textile strives to not work with cotton from sources that use forced labour or has been proven to have human rights violations.
